Has anyone ever tried adding some damping (sound absorbing) material inside closed headphones that suffer from that typical muffled, resonating, plastic-y sound, to see if it improves anything or not ?

Well I used some fiberfill (or fiberglass) which is known for its great damping properties and also used by DIYers in loudspeaker boxes, and put it inside a pair of some cheap closed headphones (the make and model of which I dont even dare mention here), and those headphones are no longer as annoying as they used to be!

Anyone else tried this yet ?

I used putty similar to blue tac in my HD650 Woodys. A thin layer lining the back of the cup helped a lot.

Beware if the fiberglass has individual threads that could break loose. They could interfere with the driver. People have complained about strands of hair causing distortion.
