You even ruin my pockets with non-audio purchases. Due to the damned "grocery store" thread, I spent $60 at "Kroger" for just myself for a week. That is absolutely ridiculous. I should have just sticked with lunchables.

What I picked up:

AT KROGER
sweet banana peppers
strawberry yogurt
tyson honey bbq wings
swiss cheese
pineapple flavored cream cheese
tomotas
sweet potatoes
potatoes
honey ham lunch meat
kellogs strawberry cereal
kellogs strawberry breakfast bars
sliced peached in glaze
grippos bbq chips
GAIN detergent(rain out yesterday, crap cost me $5)
tostitos restaurant style salsa
banquet tv dinners
milk
orange juice
aquafina water
top ramen noodles, assorted flavors

AT TRADER JOES
red bananas
mango flavored tortilla chips

This is my first time shopping for myself and I bombed it. I had planned to buy for a week, and I ended up with enough food for a year.

Any shopping tips?

Never shop when you have the munchies.

Better start menu planning fast. Some of that stuff has a short storage life.

And I echo JMT's advice about never, never shopping when hungry.

Haha...I've done the same exact thing. My advice to you is next time, just go to a Sams or Costco and load up on Mac'n Cheese and Spaghetti-O's...can you say "shelf life"? But take my advice, try to score the Franco-American O's over the Campbell's, IMO they are 100x better!

I had problems with shopping when I first moved out as well.

You need to do 2 things...

Menu plan

Write a grocery list and don't deviate from the list!

That solved my problem, though it helps to not go hungry as you are more inclined to buy convenience foods and snacks.

That's why I love living in cities - you only buy what you have to for the day.

Nonetheless, enjoy the new munchies ... and if you feel like something is expanding in your stomach after consuming all this stuff ... well... it probably is

when I first moved out I did the samething, I blew over $100 bucks on food, steak, beer, munchies, you name it I probably bought it. I got home and I was ready to blow a dube then prepare a feast for myself except I discovered a small problem, no cooking or eating utencils!

Hey, where's the SPAM ? I thought you're getting them....

Anyway, one tip I know is, never go shopping when you're HUNGRY.
Your empty stomach will cloud your judgement and common sense and will turn you into a glutton..
You might buy lots of foods, sometimes unnecessary ones... I know your stomach will love you, but your wallet won't... (as if that's not the case already since you joined head-fi....

It was actually pretty good. Worth every penny. I'm going to split up shopping and buy snacks at places like target and walmart since they have them cheaper. I'll also try to find a market somewhere for fruits and vegetables.
