In June I purchased a pair of Beyerdynamic DT250-80 headphones, and have used them every day since. They went on a road trip this summer, but otherwise don't get to go out much. Then a few days ago, due to insanity beyond my comprehension, I broke my beloved headphones (Ok, I forgot them in a chair in the dark and then sat on them. Black leather and black headphones tend to look kind of the same. Please don't hurt me.
).
I broke one of the supports that connects the headband to the actual ear units on the right side (see http://dreamechoes.net/imghost/brokencans.jpg ). I've approximated the damage in the image with the little jaggy red line. The blue line highlights the actual piece that I need to replace. Fortunately for me, the designers made these cans remarkably durable and modular, since there is a little screw that attaches this component to the headband. Now I've but one problem; how do I go about getting a replacement part or getting a repair done professionally?
I have an email into the Beyerdynamic tech department and the name of the local factory rep, but thus far I haven't gotten any response. If nothing else, what are the questions I need to be asking? I admit that the warranty doesn't cover this, but I'm not prepared to drop $180 for another pair or to live very long with anything lesser (my going-out DT231s are wonderful, don't get me wrong... but there's no comparison).
Thanks for any suggestions you can offer!
