Dad going to be in China, what amp should he get?

Ok so my dad is going to China in about 2 weeks and will have some down time to do some shopping. I have heard lots about chinese amps(eg. Little Dot 2). I just bought a Gilmore Lite V2 but If there is some other amp that he could pick up for less than 200 bucks that would be better than the Gilmore, I would have him do it. Any good recs or should I stick with the Gilmore?

The electricity in China runs at 220V. Any amp you get, you will need to special order from the manufacturer for a 110V version. Some manufacturers will do that, some won't. And it will take time for special orders.

Keep using the Gilmore Lite V2 as it is a very nice amp. Then ask your Dad to buy you a DAC instead like a completed Lite DAC-AH. You should save a significant amount as you wouldn't have to pay for shipping. It doesn't look that big, but I don't know how your dad would feel about lugging that thing around back on the flight home.

Edit: Whoops. Looks like DIYclub is based in HK. But I'm sure there are some other nice DAC's to be had in mainland China.

I talked to him today and he is going to be in Shanghai for most of the time. I could just get it shipped to the hotel and he could pick it up there. It would be ideal if there was a great manufacturer in Shanghai.

Since you have a good SS amp, I recommend you pick up a good tube amp.
