DAC with RCA output sub-$300?

Modi2 Uber falls in that category as does the Emotiva XDA2 (full rack width)

Edited to clarify that I'm not a fan of most ODAC implementations form factor and same goes for the D1.  Not really based on sound factors as I have never heard the above gear!

I do own an XDA1 however, same DAC implementation different volume control and usb board.  Solid low end and top end clarity but I've always felt the mids weren't up to the level of their peers in texture.

Do you need a headphone amp?

Every stand alone DAC will have RCA output or 3.5mm which can be converted to RCA--same output, just different connection.

How about Audio-GD NFB-15? My favorite for DAC/amp combo in the $300 range: http://audio-gd.com/Pro/Headphoneamp/NFB1532/NFB15.32EN.htm

Some ODAC and O2 manufacturers can configure the combo unit to have a rear USB input into the ODAC, while the RCA port on the rear can either be input direct into the O2 section, or an output from the ODAC.

There's also the AudioGD NFB-15, which will have less issues with wear as its output is manually controlled by a toggle switch on the front panel rather than by plugging the headphone in or off.

Don't forget about the iFi-Audio products, the Nano and Micro lines ....

I know audioengine d1 and odac have rca output, any other ideas? or the preference over that two? thanks

I don't know much about other brands of DACs like this but I know FiiO make some very decent ones.

The E09K has a USB input as well as a Aux-in phono input. It also has a couple of phono outputs. I don't own it but I think it has what you are after. There could well be better as this doesn't cost much that much.

The E09K is an amp only with docking station for SOME of their portable DAC/AMP combos... not really what OP was looking for.  The E10K is a desktop usb DAC/Amp combo and would better fit the OP's inquiry.

I have the E10 myself and it has pretty much exactly the same features as the E10K. One thing that has changed is that they have swapped the mini USB port for Micro. It has a digital coaxial output, no RCA phono output.
It looks like I misunderstood the fact that the E09k needs the E17 added if you want use the USB input. That seems strange as I feel I have read elsewhere that it works with USB without the others. However, unless RaintoSky wanted a digital coaxial output, the E10k won't be suitable.

Unless you do what I do which is use the 3.5mm line out and use and use a 3.5 to phono converter.
