Try the beresford mkiii. I did a review of the unit with the LD2++ and the result was extremely positive.

Good question. I'm wondering, too. I'm torn between a really good DAC or a second quality integrated DAC/amp. I've about given up the idea of a budget DAC. If I'm going to get one, it would be something like the MKIII. A lot depends on the trend in cutting edge amps. Is the projection for high-end separates or integrateds? I'd hate to be sitting on the sidelines with a dead-end component.

EDIT: I thought the MKIII cost about $1000 (US) but just learned that it's under $200 so it's definitely affordable as well as good quality. I contacted Home Hi-fi for actual costs in US dollars. I also asked about 120V AC accommodations.

ok i lied, i don't have an amp yet, but i was strongly thinking of getting the little dotII++ . what other amps or dacs are there that go well with the dt880 in the $200 price range

The LD2++ is a great tube amp. For the price, it's a keeper. But you'll need a decent DAC. I listen primarily via the computer, and I find that the X-Fi Elite Pro soundcard has a very good DAC. It's coming way down in price so it could serve you well until you can afford a better one. The 2++ and X-Fi, tho, would run about $400. A lot depends, too, on your source. One of my CD players has a 192kHz, 24-bit DAC. Lined up with the 2++, the sound is very good! I haven't tried the DT880, but if it's anything like the K701, it'll synergize with the 2++.
