Hey guys,

Some of you might remember my thread (Finally, My Decision) in which I decided to order a GS-1 and a Headroom Micro DAC. Well, I ordered the amp first. It's still being built. But I never managed to end up with enough funds to get the DAC.

So if anyone could recommend a good DAC for use with the GS-1 and my Denon AH-D5000s, it would be welcome. A couple of things I'm looking for in it.

- Less then $300 USD
- USB
- 24 bit (All my music files are in 24 bit)
- No DYI, and preferebly nothing you have to buy on e-bay

Thanks for any suggestions.

The amp section doesn't seem very active today, so I'll try to get a little more attention.

CABLES MAKE NO DIFFERENCE!

No, seriously... I've been looking at the Zero DAC and also some stuff from Pacific Valve. Had anyone got any ideas on those?

EMU 0404 USB? I think it meets all of the above criteria....I'd have suggested the Musiland MD-10 but it is rather warm, which I do not think will go too well with the D5000's (which I think need something more on the cool/neutral side of things).

I've heard a lot about the emu, and mostly it sounds pretty good. Do you have a link for a page where I could get/look at one?

Thanks for the suggestion. I like the look of it (Not literally of course, it's kinda ugly). I'll probably get that one, but I'm going to wait around for a few days to see if anyone has any other suggestions.

Not like I'm in any hurry. Not like the GS-1 is gonna be here any time soon anyway, although I suppose the 0404 probably sounds better then my current setup of X-Fi > Total Airhead on its own.
