I am planning to get a entry level DAC at 100 bucks for my TV. Its a LG B7D and has only TOSLINK output. It will be used as a source for youtube listening. I narrowed Schiit Modi 2 Uber or OLDAC. I am somehow not happy getting a Topping D30 as I find it lacks resale value always when you sell it out at some point. I am looking for :

1. the most neutral (boring is ok),
2. detailed presentation without colouration
3. Silent / darkest background
at this price point.

Any other hidden gems? A cheaper hifime 9018 will sound similar to OL DAC, despite the uncool looks?

My amp is ATOLL IN 50 (https://www.tnt-audio.com/ampli/atoll-in50_e.html) + AM50 , speakers are ALR Jordan Number 4. I have a JDS labs c5d which I may use as a c5 at times for headphone listening. Remote would be great as currently the amp doesnt have a remote. The Atoll system remote is not worth the money (50€) just for controlling the volume up and down as I don't have their matching tuner / DAC / or CD player. Currently from the PC -> c5D (headphone out) I am satisfied as it works well with the rest of the system. I had a hifimediy 9018D earlier which was giving a slightly brighter presentation while the c5d sounded more neutral. I had tried a xduoo x3 / x10 / fiiO x5ii lineout on the same system but so far the c5d's headphone out had the best match with the system in terms of tonal neutrality. xduoo x10 was great with vocals. FiiO had a thick low end. I have not heard a ODAC/OLDAC yet. Will it be similar to c5d?

I would go for the Hifimediy DAC (Thinking best bang for the buck).

OL DAC would be perfect for what you are looking for. I use the EL DAC in my TV setup, and the OL DAC in my reference pc setup.

the OL DAC is a no-nonsense approach to building a great neutral DAC that measures and performs really well.
