Has anyone built a DAC based on the CS8416 spdif reciever and the CS4398 DAC?
I've been looking at these two for a while now and I'm a bit confused as to whether the CS8416 can generate and provide a master clock signal to the 4398 dac. It would appear that the CS8416 doesn't require an external clock, but I'm not so sure. Any suggestions?

I'm using the CS8416 in a PCM1730 DAC. Fully designed for a few months now i'm really only waiting for a few weeks of free time to order and make PCBs.

The CS8416 recovers the clock using a phase locked loop from the spdif/aes signal. This reduces it's dependancy on external clocks, however the signal can always be re-clocked to reduce jitter even more accuratly then a PLL.
