My budget is 200-350 euro, for a box that has both things.

I'd like one that is praised by many users, as to not buy something that might not suit my tastes.

I listen 80% classical music, 20% metal.

I'm happy with the Schiit Asgard and the he500's. I listen to Classical and Jazz. You get a lot of amp for the money, very clean and refined and it gives out over 1 watt which is adequate for the 500's.

I usually spend more on the source (amp/dacs) than on the headphone itself

Hehe, I just got one of the two b-stock G109-S that were available.. built like a tank with plenty of power, what could I hope more for the 375€. Worthy replacement for the bad ergonomics of my O2. But yeah if you have something against neutral well built amps, don't consider it. And instead of cheap EQing get some expensive "colored" amp.

(Or just get the O2, worked just fine with my HE-500)

It can be up to 400 euro then, haha.

Probably you can find a HA-160 for around that budget.

Does a nice job with low and high impedance phones.

How about the Audio-gd Compass 2 DAC / Amp combo?
- Can drive over 2w into the the HE-500 (38 Ohm)
- Sabre ES9018 DAC
- Can customize sound with many different Op-Amps if desired
