Hello Dear Headfiers,

Planning to buy myself a new headphone amp+dac soon...
I wonder if you could help me on the choices of Amp+Dac (together or in separate packages).
Budget is about $400

At them moment my home setup is
AlienDAC + Starving Student

Headphones in use would be mostly K701, DT150 and D2000 (in that order)

Music Genre is mostly Rock (Classic and Alternative)

as for Solid State / Tube
The most experience I have are the MHSS and a Pimeta (24v and stock opamps)

Ones I've been putting my eyes on are the
hiFace
Meier Swing
Audio-gd FUN
Matrix M-Stage
Darkvoice 336´

Any help is welcome...

Thanks!

Hello Sridhar3,
thanks for the input...

just went through the reviews for this product in the website, and seems that a fellow headfier reported his unit going dead after some months of use... quite frightening for a 500 dollars unit....
Any clues if this is just one case or something similar do the Dac Zeros who kept dying out of nowhere?

I haven't heard any other reports of a similar thing happening.  Probably bad luck.  Audio-gd amps/DACs are well-regarded on this forum, but there are even reports of those failing from time to time.

I wouldn't be as concerned about a single account of an amp/DAC failing.  I'd be more concerned if either A) lots of similar reports existed, or B) customer service was reported to be lacking, in terms of troubleshooting/exchanges/returns etc.

There is an Audio-GD compass for sale for 200 in the fs forum right now!

Great combo!
