DAC-1 and HD650 Synergy

How's the synergy? Last thread before I jump on the DAC-1 (I haven't been able to sleep the last few nights regarding the upgrade, it's so annoying and I just want to get it over with).

Ideally :

DAC-1 => GS-1 => HD650

I changed my mind again. I'm switching between RS-1 and DAC-1 at the moment.. heh.

Careful with he RS-1s, they're very bassy phones when using flats (I didnt like their sound too much with bowls, the highs were a bit painful).

There are lots of threads on DAC1 and HD650 synergy. In general its very good

Keep in mind, that if you'll go with the DAC1, you might not even want your GS-1 between the DAC1 and HD650. The built-in amp in DAC1 is pretty good.

See if you can get the DAC1 from a 30day refund guarantee store (like AA) to audition it.

DAC1 => HD650 duo is excellent. You may find you can remove the "middleman", so to speak

The DAC1 makes the HD650 sound as good as I've heard it, and no external amp is needed, as I have yet to hear one that sounds any better than the DAC1 by itself, unless you went to an all-balanced setup, and even then the DAC1 can do well with the XLR outputs.

Yea, I have so much trouble finding an amp that would better the sound for the DAC-1/SA5000 combo... the DAC-1 really imposes its sound no matter what amp I seem to put in between so far.

even with a tube amp strapped in between the dac1 alone would etch out the combo?
