I'm looking for an IEM which is the closest thing to the Denon D5000s as possible, since I like that sound so much. Is there such a thing? These will be paired with a Cowon X9, if that helps with synergy...
 
It would also help if it's one that fits well and doesn't require much tweaking and bothering with to get a good fit. My VSonic GR06 are awfully annoying in terms of actually getting them to fit correctly (which they don't actually do in the end).

I asked this same question a long time ago....and the answer I got was the Westone W3.  I own them now, and I suppose I'd agree that they share some of the D5000 properties.  Its a fun sound signature, elevated bass punch and treble.  They take some criticism for lacking clarity though I've never found it to be an issue.  Occasionally they can be sibilant, but thats depending on your source and tips etc etc etc.

The PFE232, JVC FX700, Sony EX1000, RE272 are close match to the D5000 and all sound very crisp, clear and detailed.

Hmmm.  EX1000 = D5000? I don't hear that at all, though the EX1000 is extremely good I wouldn't describe it as like the D5000  The FX700 has the bass, but the treble is kind of far back in the mix compared to the D5000 imo.

I definitely would not say the re272's equate to the d5000.
Have you directly compared all these iem's you're recommending with the d5000's?

D5000's are my favorite full-sized cans, and the Radius DDM2's are my favorite IEM's. They are the closest to matching the soundstage and sub-bass of a full-sized can. Expensive, fragile, and hard to get though. I also own Westone 3's and MMDT's. All are agreeable sound sigs for me. W3's are definitely great and offer the most usability (meaning isolation, form factor, etc.), but they have the least sub-bass of the 3 I mentioned.
