I have both the Denon D-2000 and Beyer DT-880, and I am looking for some advice on each. First, to me the D2000s tend to sound a little boomy - like there is a touch of reverb added. I was wondering if adding some sound absorbing material in the ear cups might help. I have not taken them apart yet so I don't know what is in there as stock. I don't want to change the balance or basic sound quality, however.

With both pairs I would like advice on cable to use for recabling. The stock cables are too long and I would guess some better quailty wire would improve the sound. I am leaning towards headphile Blackmax. Any thoughts how that would work on either of these phones?

Thanks
