I got this player on Ebay the other day. Any thoughts on what to expect? It said it came with a metal case. Thanks for any information.

Hey what was the title of the auction? I have been looking on ebay (among other places) and have yet to find a single 515 for sale. Oh and expect it to be much nicer sounding then any of the newer portable cd players.

Biggie, It was a D15 not a 515 I believe it is an older player. I do not know whether the two players are related. Maybe someone else does. John

whoops I read the D as a 5. I feel silly. Sorry I don't know much about the D15, good luck with your purchase.

No, Martioz this one finished up a few days ago. The item number was 1376750157. Do you know anything about this particular model. Thanks jfalford

FYIL: D-15 (aka D-150 in Asia /Europe) was released in 1988 3 years after the launch of D-5.

jfalford,

You shall expect a PCDP which has identical (or almost) chasis as D-25S / D-250. Back in 1988, there were 3 versions of D-150s released in Asia. They come in different color - white, black and gun metal. You have won the auction of a black color one. And thanks for over bidding me.

Anyway, enjoy listening.

Sorry katsudon1. I would never intentionally bid against a head-fier. Thanks for the information I'm sure it will be useful. jfalford

I have an old D15 that I found recently going through my garage. I recently bought a D25S on EBay. The two players look exactly the same except the D25 says 4 times digital sampling on the cover of the player.

The sound is great on the D15, with the same caveats as the D25: no skip protection, low (2-2.5 hours) battery life, limited programability.

The D15 uses the same battery as the D25, which can be purchased through Sony.

Congrats - you have a great sounding player on its way to you.

Kevin

Kevin, so except to a collector having both the D-15 and the D-25 would be an exercise in redundancy. jfalford

Its hard for me to tell. The D15 was sitting in a box in my garage for seven years. The volume control has intermitent problems. But they seem to have the same sound quality from the headphone jack. I have not run the 15 from the line out. Both of these players were using a Supreme.

I'll do some more testing this afternoon and let you know.

Silicon Salvage seems to always have a D25 listed on EBay. They are new old stock. Here's a link for one listed now:

Thanks for the heads up Kevin. I picked up one of the two 25s they had available. I guess I'll be doing a head to head comparison of the 15 and the 25 myself. Thanks

D-15 arrived today and I have been very pleased with what I have heard . Now I know what people mean by a powerful headphone out. Where I was going close to the limit on some volume levels, I barely make it to 4 on the D15s volume dial. I have a D25 on the way and will do a head to head when it gets here. Happy Listening.
