I just managed to snag my second D-J50 off of Ebay . I have pretty much been out of the collecting circle for the last few months, mostly to cut back on my spending. I just couldn't pass up this great potential deal. I have sold a few players to build some much needed cash. Out of the players I decided to sell, there were a few that I just couldn't bring myself to let go. These few pieces are in my opinion the rarer and most beautifull of the sony players. Each has there own special attribute. The D-626, has wireless headphone output. Where a separate small "reciever" hooks up to the headphones and picks up the signal sent by the transmitter (the player.) The D-515, not only one of the sexiest looking players but also the first to feature anti-skip with a full, first in the industry 3-seconds of skip free playing. The D-J50, still possibly the thinnest player ever made in a full metal package. Almost the exact same size as a a CD jewel case. This beaut is in my opinion one of the best looking sony's ever released. These three players, in my opinion, represent what sony is capable of, and why they were seen by many to be the trendsetters in the portable audio market. This was just digital, I still have some of the more rarer special analog offerings, like the DD9, the Boodo Khan, and the F107. With still so many beautifull things available, it's hard to stop collecting completely.

Half of my collection went to this guy. Glad to see that one passed the test.

And if you ever decide one of those J50s needs a new home...

too me the f107 is the most beautifull designed walkman and i like them more than my discman (design). did you manage to repair that f107 from italy??

yes, that dj50 is on my wanted list...but that price is too high for me..

Thanks fellas, it's good to know that my passion for these things can be appreciated and understood here.

Strohmie, you will be the first I approach when I need to unload one of these D-J50's. The D-626 I got from you is the only one I have ever seen for sale anywhere. It has got to be one of the hardest Sony's to get period.

19Lexicon, I like the F107 so much that I now have five of them. Not all are in complete working condition, like the one you mention, but I can't pass picking up an extra one at the incredible prices they have been selling for on Ebay. I remember when I first wanted one of these, the prices offered on these was averaging ~150. I picked up my first two at around this price. The last few on ebay have been selling for ~40. A real bargain in my opinion. As far as the last one I picked up, I still have to open her up and do the minor repairs she needs but I am hoping for the best when I do.

Insomiac, muhahahahaa

yes that 626 is very special, never seen that one before...yes,it's the most rarest discman there is..a real collectable...unfortunate i don't like it's design.

Congrats on the score Pappucho, man that was a battle with the bids going back and forth. I haven't been buying much PCDP lately as my collection is nearly complete and am concentrating on my fullsize rig set up. I saw another D-J50 on Ebay about a month earlier but forgot how much it closed for. I'll see if I still have the link.
I also own a D-J50 complete with all accessories and original box. Bought it little over a year ago from a Ebayer in Germany. He had only put in 10 hours on the PCDP and then put up in storage all these years. My D-J50 still has the protective tape over the LCD display.

I used to have D-J50 for somedays~~But i never like it. Maybe it really too thin so i cannot contain batteries inside. But the original battery-pack is already dead~Without batteries the D-J50 can do nothing but a furniture~

Yesterday i just finish the repairment of my own D6-C. Someone says that it might be the best cessette-walkman of SONY, a little batter than DD9~~

Yeah I saw that one too. I think I got a pretty good deal on the D-J50 I won. How much did you pay for yours? I picked up my first one for 120 bucks off of a fellow headphier about a year ago. Most of the ones I've seen on ebay sell for 200 or more easily.

Sazabi2001-I see your point. For me it's more a addiction to collecting than actually using any of these. I'll use them occasionally. Mostly, I keep most of my collection in cardboard boxes. Once we move into a larger house and I have a game room set-up I'll set up a display case for all of these. So they will become furniture one day. Furniture I can use and enjoy.

Well with the Euro to USD conversion plus shipping charrge I think I paid somewhere near $300 dollars. The seller knew he had a hard to find PCDP that was in mint to pristine condition and had priced it accordingly. Earlier last year I had the PCDP collecting fever pretty bad and was willing to pay just anything to get my hands on a D-J50 even more for one that was in the condition as this particular one. At that time it was like only the second D-J50 I'd seen on Ebay and fearing that it was a rare opportunity I jumped at buying it even though I realized the $300+ price was way too high. Presently I don't think I would willing to pay more that $200 for a D-J50, I don't have the nerves of steel for spending on PCDP's like I once used to.

Speaking of you selling some of your vintage PCDP's, did you sell your D-82? The D-82 is a seriously rare PCDP, certainly rarer than the D-J50 IMO. I recently won anotther D-82 on Ebay complete with all acessories and original box for $115 but the sell never contacted me back about payment info nor did he respond to any of my emails. Another missed opportunity.

Edit: Ooops, didn't see that you still have the D-82 listed in your sig.
