Hey guys, this is my first post of what will hopefully be many. I am looking for a new PCDP to replace my two year old crappy one. I recently bought a D-EJ1000 and love the features and the sound seems adequate enough (a little better than my old one). I'm mainly using Sennheiser MX500's out of the headphone jack (or remote in this case). I was just wondering how significant the sound quality difference would be between the d-ej1000 and the ct570 using these phones without an amp.

i think most ppl will respond that the 570 will sound a lot better from the phones jack. modern sony pcdp's definitely have weak phones output.

the only reason why i am considering getting a sony 1000 is because i will be using it with an amp.

has anyone actually listened to both the 570 and 1000 out of their headphone jacks? It just seems to me that most people who have the 570 use amps, whereas i will not be using one so i was wondering if there would actually be a substantial sound quality difference...

a lot of ppl like the 570 for the phones out...i think its the easily the most available pcdp with a good phones out..

there are better ones, but they are harder to come by...ie: sony 777, 555, 905, d25, etc...

I haven't heard the 570 but forget the 1000 without an amp (esp from the phone jack). The lineout is most EXCELLENT and through the amp it sounds pretty damn good, as good as I've heard from a portable rig. I like it a lot.

Alright, fair enough. I think i'll return the 1000 for the 570. Anybody know if the remote for the 570 is any good? Also does the anti-skip function degrade the sound quality at all?

The remote for the 570 is kinda cheap, but it does its job well. It has no display, but has buttons for most of the major funtions of the player. It also unfortunitely does not include a clip of some kind, so it just hangs. Its still useful though.

As for if the anti-skip degrades the sound? thats for your ears to decide

. It comes with no antiskip, 10 second uncompressed antiskip, and 40 second compressed antiskip.

hmm, sounds like 10 sec is the way to go. On yahoo shopping there are a lot of places that carry the 570, and i ordered from the one that is only 74 bucks, but does this necessarily mean they have it in stock?

I own both players, but I have never listened to the headphone jack. I know the line out sounds better on the Sony. I like the better battery life on the Sony. If you want I can try them both with the MX500's and let you know. Soory if thi si too late.
