On the flap it says: "SONY" and then underneath "DiscmanESP" in letters about twice the size. On the other side it has a pocket that goes about halfway up and no lettering. Is this the original pleather case for the D-777? Can anyone identify this for me? Is there a picture of it anywhere?

Yes, that's it. Try looking it up in the PCDP gallery.

. I wasn't sure I should even post this question here. I could have just PMed a D-777 owner instead, but I felt that I needed a quick answer. I just sold my D-777 but I wasn't 100% certain that it was the right case. Now I am. Thanks.

has anyone ever used that little pocket in the back? my brother likes to use it to hold a CD, but i always fell they might get easily scratched. i can't think of any other purposes for that pocket.

I guess it could be to store extra chewing gum batteries... I HAVE tried it, but now i have a smaller ideal case for my other two. You can fit your fingers in there so that the player sits flat on your hand like a small pizza? if that helps??

I used to think about putting a second CD there too, bong... it would certainly save you carrying a jewel case around. But over time, I'm sure some dirt or the like would have collected near the bottom and like you said, it'd scratch the CD in no time.
I do appreciate the case though, and though it's not pretty - ie. the SONY lettering has faded, it's got spots on it, velcro is now random fuzz... in other words it's *very* well worn/loved. But for the same reason why the case ain't pretty, the discman itself is in top shape. Hurrah for odd cases!

I would imagine the slot is only good for you to put your french letters in but that's just my silly mind working. But honestly what is that pocket for to anyway?
