D-777 doesn't like scratches and regarding CD-R buring

It seems to me that D-777 doesn't really tolerate scratches on the disc. I borrowed some discs with moderate scratches from the library yesterday and D-777 just skipped severely when playing them. I guess I have to rip them into CD-Rs in order to play them flawlessly with my D-777. One thing I would like to know is that does the method of burning has any effect on the sound quality of the CD-R? Thanks.

burn at lower speeds 8x 16x 24x ...you might want to try black cdr's .. burning 32x and above ...cdp's generally have a hard time with them...
