Any idea in which way it might differ from the D-34? Any special features?
And I suppose you don't want to part with it

Hmm...

So the D32 and D33 have multi-bit DACs, and the D34 and D36 have 1-bit DACs... also, the '34 and '36 have half of the line out power of the '32 and '33...

Was this the cross-over period, caught right in the middle, between multi-bit, and 1-bit dacs?

It's output voltage, but yeah, half of it anyway

The 33 is a '91 model, the 32 is a '92 model like the D-x11s (my 32 has also a "Compact Disc 10th Anniversary" sticker...). My 34 is manufactured June '92, so I guess it came out in '92 as well...

Well, from looking at the few specs we know, it appears to be identical to the D-34, and apparently both were sold at the same time, so there must be some difference to justify its existence... Are there any features the D-34 doesn't have? Does it look different (see link to picture above)? Perhaps it came bundled with some accessories? Photos would be great.

Well, the D-36 looks exactly like the D-34, except for the position of the "1bit DAC Mega Bass" logo

here's a pic i took from an old sony catalog of mine:

apparantly, both are identical except the D-36 has an upgraded MDR-34 headphones, which probably wasn't much of an upgrade anyway.

it also states that both players used dual 1-bit converters.

mystery solved?
