I was out scouring pawn shops for an older pcdp this weekend and picked up a d-111 for cheap, thinking it was gonna be total crap. Without bass boost, it is; the heaphone out is flat, flat, flat. However, (pls excuse my abuse of audiophile terms here) with bass boost on the first setting, there's more depth to the soundstage, more detail in the high end, and well, lots of flabby, slow bass. It's kinda nice for classical recordings. btw, it doesn't effect the line out, just hphone out. It doesn't come near my d-88 in terms of clarity/detail or sound stage, but a replacement for the pos I new sony use at work, I think it's a keeper until i find something else.

just curious, anyone else had this bass-boost sound improvement experience with these players? (I'm gonna try it with my beyer 770's at work, if i lose some teeth from bass rattle, I'll let y'all know).
