I'm on a low budget so I bought some cheap Sennheiser CX300-B, but i'm trying them out right now and there seems to be some problems...

The left side seems "lacking" compared to the right... I tested the earphones with a solid sine oscillator at 50~100Hz, panned completely to one side then the other, and the left side definitely sounds... weaker. Then I switched sides and tested the left plug on my right ear... same results.

Is this normal with new products (albeit cheap)? Would it get better once I burn it in?

Oh and another thing that i noticed is that if i accidentally flick the cable, it creates a bassy kick-drum-like sound, but only when it's plugged in. And yes, the sound is actually coming out of the earbuds... I held the wire into a loop and at arm's length, under my desk. If it's plugged in when i do that, it makes a noise, but not when i try it unplugged.

Is that... normal?

But I bought them new and it seems to come in the right packaging?

Fakes can look pretty real.  What store did you get them from, and how much did you pay for them?  I guess that if you got them directly from Amazon they shouldn't be fake, but if you got them from one of the other sellers there, there's a good chance it is.

Anyway, what's happening isn't normal.  If they are in fact real, then they are defective.  If they're fake, then you should get a refund.  Either way, that shouldn't be happening.

There are a lot of fakes out there - beware. Only buy from an authorized dealer. Check with your local Sennheiser office to verify the integrity of a dealer before buying. Sales through a non-authorized channel are not typically eligible for warranty, especially if they are counterfeit.

I bought it from a vendor who's "fulfilled by Amazon." I left a negative feedback and the vendor offered to send a replacement. Now I feel kinda bad... maybe I should've contact them directly first...

Well yeah...that's normally how a bad transaction goes.  You contact them to see if they'll replace them first...if no, then bad feedback.  That sucks.  You probably just have a defective pair from the factory and how is any vendor supposed to know that when they are selling sealed product direct from Senn?
