CustomArt FIBAE Impressions Thread

I'm buying a pair of fibae 2's, there seems to be a lot of options involved. What do you think are the best options, such as silicon vs acrylic , etc?

Acrylic = easier to care for and less prone to sweat.

I'm very curious about your experience with the custom eartips. Do you by a chance have some Noble Audio universal IEM? I have the Massdrop Noble X and the comfort is less then stellar so I'm contemplating getting these custom eartips (and Custom Art is the closest option). Thanks!
I do not have any Noble IEMs. I have only had these custom tips for a day. They are comfortable and provide good isolation.

I took an attempt in equalizing by FIBAE 3 and I gotta say the results are very good. Basis for the equalization was frequency response measurement done by Headflux.de and 2017 Harman target response for IEMs. I used my AutoEQ algorithm to produce EqAPO settings.

Q17LKcQ.png

Raw means difference between frequency response and Harman target response. Smoothed is savitzky-golay filter applied to raw error data. Equalization is the actual compensation curve. Equalized raw and smoothed are end result (compared to Harman target).

I didn't include anything above 3kHz, even though you can see them in the graphs, because adding that 12dB in 5-7kHz range does not do good things to sound. AutoEq is still very much work in progress. Main thing changed is the reduction in upper bass / lower midrange and increase in sub-bass. Even though FIBAE 3 has enough sub-bass for my tastes I stuck to Harman target. Added sub-bass does not bother me but instead it gives a lot more oomph for electronic music. FIBAE 3 takes very well to equalizing.

Equalizing F3 up to 3kHz really clears up the sound making it a bit brighter and most importantly reduces boominess. However when not using eq the sound feels more full bodied. For me the more natural sound achieved with eq is a preference but I also can see how some people could consider it dry / boring / too bright. By not any means is the FIBAE 3 sound signature bad when not equalizing I just think it's even better when using eq, more like the real thing.

Here are EqualizerAPO settings. Just add this to the end of you EqAPO configuration file (C:\Program Files\EqualizerAPO\config.txt by default). This is not parametric EQ and therefore not compatible with Peace GUI. EqualizerAPO's GraphicEQ is a convolution based equalizer.

I would love to hear comments from other FIBAE 3 users trying out this EQ. Do you think this makes F3 sound better or worse?

How you getting on with them? Any chance of a couple of shots with them on the fibaes?
Sure David...keep in mind that mine are not a good example as I have really big ear holes so the will appear larger. Also, these are on a FIBAE2 which is a small shell. Once I figured out how to insert and remove them I think they are really good. I have a great fit and they are really really snug so if I pull them quickly or at an angle they may stay in my ear. It is not near as unnerving, when that happens, as it is with an eartip where you think it will go to far in the ear canal, these are custom they wont go inside further. The FIBAE 2 requires a slow steady pull straight out and I have zero issues. The IMR-R1 is the same, slow, steady pull. The Atlas will remove the same way. The shorter, smooth stem(no lip) nozzled IEM's do stay in my ear when removing the IEM, but that is to be expected and Piotr will also tell you they don't work for everything.

So after publically exposing my ear holes to shame and scrutiny I felt I would follow up with this little shot...

Thanks. Got a set on order. Going to see how it works with the CA Comet, and music two that I have in universal.

That got me confused for a second lol :p

Been a nightmare in the other thread I tell ya. "CA" "yeah which one?" :p

It seems that as I am having some issues with my pinna area and concha when getting full customs done, I thought getting tips done and trying them with a straight barrel iem such as the Campfire Audio one's might work better for me. Of course as I already have the music two in universal then there's no harm in trying it on there as well.

I did wonder if the position of the bite block might be affecting the fit as well. I've done it the traditional way the past few (!) times I've had it done, but am now wondering if my new audiologists suggestion of doing it on the side of the jaw might have made a difference.

What’s with that new post on Custom Art’s IG? Will there be another announcement soon?

Just noticed CustomArt will be at the Portable Audio Festival in Tokyo next week, glad I checked their IG after seeing above post lol
Looking forward to dropping by CA booth!

So I'm into my 5th week since my impressions reached CA office.
Been quite caught up with work so the 4 weeks flew by very quickly, but the right ear padding on my M80s have recently split open!
Looking forward to receiving my MEs so that I can lay my M80s to rest!

BTW, I am also looking to get a iBasso DX150 (or HiBy R6, leaning towards the former though).
@PinkyPowers , I read through your review on the DX150 but noticed you didn't mention the MEs (I assume since you were having them remolded).
Could you share your thoughts on pairing between the two?
