I'm wondering if its possible to get custom tips for my SF5pros at the moment, as I absolutely love the sound (especially when amped), but find that the fit isn't that great. For example, I find that the right plug keeps on working its way loose, even when I'm just gently walking around.

I spoke with a local audiologist, but he hasn't replied yet as he needs to ask the labs whether its possible for tips like this to be done. I'm more than willing to give him the current tips so he can work out the fit for the SF5s.

My question is, am I simply dreaming, or is it actually possible for this to be done? I mean, its basically a Sleeping plugs with a hole through it to fit onto my IEMs right?

I know there are sites out there that make custom tips for IEMs, including the UE SF 5s.

I think they cost around 120 bucks for both ears though. They'll send you an impression kit (or you can send them one yourself) and they'll have it done.

If the fit is bad, they supposedly re-do it for free. I don't know anyone who has done this yet though

Yeah, I noticed on ebay. They were charging about $150.

My audiologist said that if the lab can do these sort of tips, then it'd be about $100 for both ears (impression and the actual tip).

I'm quiet worried about those sites since I'd rather have a professional do the mould to make sure I don't mess up anything.

I already have been this route as you can see here in my older post:
http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f4/cus...ysound-286841/

This is a very good route to go "if" you are "really" happy with the IEM's that you have/own and just want more comfort. I had the SF5's, Triple 10's, and SE530's, and sold all to keep the Triple 10's - I then did get custom tips for my Triple 10's, which were a big improvement.

However, now that I have true custom IEM's (SuperFreQs), I can tell you that it is a much better buy for sound/comfort to simply sell the SF5's and get either the Livewires or the FreQs - either one will sound better, and fit better than the SF5's could possibly do. After I got my FreQs, I sold the Triple 10's and I have never looked back

My problem is that I don't live in the US of A, so getting customs for me is extremely expensive.

I could get customs done when I go to Hong Kong, but having researched the prices it ends up being about 100USD more!

I'd love to get a set of livewires or the FreQs, but firstly I'd have to pay an enormous amount just for shipping, and then I'd have to go get an ear impression done at my audiologist, which will easily be $100AUD (Keep in mind that 1AUD is about 1USD) on its own. Finally, I'd have to pay the cost of the IEMs themselves, which are going to be around 300USD.

It frustrates me why someone can't do a reasonably priced custom for those who aren't in America!

Have you looked or called around your area for impressions? Make sure you specify they are silicon impressions and that you'll take them home. I had a lot of places constantly mis-understanding my question and thinking I wanted molds, not impressions which really bumped up the price. I wasted quoted $100 an ear, $50 an ear $80 etc...until finally someone understood me.

I was able to find silicon impressions here in Canada for $15 CDN an ear after searching and explaining for awhile
