I should have just done this a month or two ago and saved me the time and money.

Will I (or any of us) ever learn?

History (I will try to keep it short). I had UE SF5's for a year - LOVED the sound, but never could keep them sealed for very long and they were never that comfy in MY ears. I tried the FS mod (which helped some) but it was not enough.

I had them replaced (they cracked) and I sold them. I bought some e500's. Liked the sound (not as much as the SF5 to be honest) and comfort, but did not like the cord.
I also got some UM2's that were nearly as good as the e500's, so the e500's went back due to cost and the cord.

From a side issue, I have $250 in credit at Guitar Center and I really no longer play bass or guitar (and it is had to say I really ever did

). Well, they sell UE customs . . . and customs are what I lust after. And they sell them for a bit less than UE does.

The UE5c is supposed to sound like the SF.5 but better and of course have that custom fit. So I am going to do it. I have an appt to get impressions next Wednesday. I have to decide what color to get . . . I have been burning up the search engine on this site to look at pics. I like black but worry they will look gross when I pull them out (before I can wipe them off). I do not have much ear wax, but like all, I got some. Clear is always safe. Maybe a somewhat clear red? Just too many options. And what about an image???

I now have to decide to return (minus 15% stocking fee plus shipping plus wait), keep or sell my 2 week old UM2's.

Personally, I would go with the clear or a skin color. My Racing ELectronics molds are Red (right)/Blue(left). I don't have an issue with wax since I do clean the canals with a q-tip before putting the molds in. Remember that they take time to get in correctly and there is a learning curve for that. Yes, they do isolate very well under a helmet

. I'm ordering a set of UE SF3 hoping to get a good fit. Good luck with your project.

they guy told me $499. I have not paid yet, so I cannot say this is 100% correct. He told me that they sell all the customs for less than what UE does (retail price). UE sells them for $550.

I looked on Guitar Center's website, but there's no mention of UE Customs anywhere. Is it a strictly in-store item?

of all the custom iem's the ue5c looks to be the one that i would be getting, due to being described as warm and bassy. the ue10 would just be too neutral for me.
you are a very lucky man, enjoy every moment you get with your new customs.

yeah, their website does not mention them - and they may not sell them, I do not know.

On UE's site, GuitarCenter is listed as the only 'partner' for customs. This is a place on line that sells them http://earplugstore.stores.yahoo.net/uleauecupome.html - just found them in a search. They offer a discount on them as does GC, but in the case of the UE5c, they have the list price too high by $50. The others seem to be more correct.
