To a lucky listener!

This is Amp 7

amp7_6.jpg

Specs: Analog Devices AD744 opamps running in Class A into a pair of Burr-Brown BUF634 buffers per channel. Wima bypass caps and giant panasonic power supply caps. There are no caps in the signal path. Powered by a wall wart - anything up to 30V regulated will work. I use a Radio Shack one with great results.

Case is an aluminum Hammond box with a brushed aluminum finish. Knob is custom made brushed aluminum as well. The input jack is 1/8" mini stereo and is located on the back with power switch and power jack. 1/4" output jack is on the side near the front. Clear red LED is on the front panel.

Sound is glass smooth, nicely detailed. I use it with Grado's and it's easily the easiest listening amp I've built.

Price is $150 shipped.

This thing is nearly bulletproof - great for the office!

Also, price reduced to $130 shipped right to your front door.

This really is a nice sounding amp but if someone is interested in it for it's aesthetic value, I can put the circuit d'jour (read: META42) in it for the original asking price.

It performs marvelously, thank you!

I took it to the Headroom tour and Tyll let me put it in the portable case and run it off the same source that was powering the Corda, Porta Corda, Airhead, Total Airhead, Home, both Creeks, Grado, (let's see, what else? Wheatfield HA-2, MG Head OTL... etc, etc..)

I think it sounded beter than anything on that top row of the case, including the Corda. Comparisons to the amps in the same price range are no contest - this amp is very smooth and fluid and offers much more detail than both Cordas and Airheads and Creeks.

I don't need to tell you what it did to the Grado amp...

I may be biased - but I listened to every amp at the show through my cans - I like this amp more than all of the sub- $350 amps I heard.

ok,

OK, now I'm mad. Todd told me that Tyll had specified no DIY amps were to be hooked into the cases...

But NICE job erix! Do you sell those cases?
