He bought some leather pads (which are like 30 Euro per pair) to sell to people that requested them and to sell the rest on these forums. I'm sure these DT990s still cost him a pretty penny though.

I'm one of the lucky soon-to-be recipients of a black pair. It's a great public service that Todd is providing. The key point being that you can't just buy a pair of leather pads. Someone who is buying a manufacture set of cans has to do all the arranging and remailing.
