Hi,
For the last couple of years, I have heard cans such as the Audeze LCD-4 and Focal pointed to as the benchmark for what is possible for headphones. I am curious, is that still the case today? More importantly, are there cans that have come out that come close to their performance at a lower cost? During the past few years, pricing on this stuff has gotten out of control. On the AMP side, it is clear that people are recognizing a law of diminishing returns and have options to get 90% of the performance for 60% of the price. How about when it comes to cans.
Also, I am curious about closed cans closing in on the sound from open cans. Open cans are great, but I find that because they let in so much environmental noise, it is necessary to turn them up to volumes that are fatiguing after a while. And I don't really have a super quiet place/time that I can regularly take advantage of.
Thanks in advance!!!
