You mean the cable between the source and the amp?

What do you expect from the sound?
That pretty much tells you whether or not you need a high-quality cable.

Usually an amp has RCA-inputs though, unless you're getting a portable one.

I ment that you require a "3,5mm -> 2x RCA" cable if you want to use some amps. You can use any soundcard for that

I bought a Tech Link 3,5mm -> 2x RCA 1,0m cable between my Terratec 6fire LT and Creek OBH-11. Don't know if it's any better than a cheaper cable, but hey, atleast it looks cooler!

It has gold plated plugs, metal connectors and little bit heftier cable than those cheaper ones.

Maybe you could post about how much you are willing to spend and what length you need.

I am sure someone will have a suggestion to fit within your price range.

It depends on which amp you get. Some amp has only 1/8" or mini output while others use RCA's. So, you'll either require mini to mini cable or mini to RCAs.

By the way, for hooking stuff to my audigy platinum card, I only use cheap RS stuff. At the moment, I have some cheap RS mini to RCAs running between my vintage marantz and audigy.
