Creative Zen MicroPhoto (8GB)

It uses tag-based. My iRiver uses file based and I'm not sure which I prefer because my tags are perfect in my 100GB of music. Tag based is definately cleaner in my opinion.

I can't wait till this is out, I'll be selling my Zen Micro for this

Awesome, so lucky!

PM me and let me know how it went and whether it lives up to the hype (i.e. if the screen is as awesome as they say).

i do hope it supports album art though. the microphoto has been quite a bit of mystery as creative did not release much official info about it.

Yeah, so do I. I mean, it can't be too difficult to implement can it? I really hope they surprise us all and there are more hidden features to it then what has been released to the public.

ok. i just took a look at the microphoto and i'm not impressed. first of all, the screen is very pixelated. secondly, the screen is not bright enough. thirdly, no album art. essentially, its just another micro with a 8gb hard disk and can view photos on its very poor screen. its cannot even act as a usb host, which pretty much makes it useless for transferring straight from digital cameras.

Bah, I'm turned off now. The OLED screen was supposed to be awesome and very clear.

I'm going to singapore later this year, might check it out there and make a decision. Might wait for reviews too.

Will stick with my Micro for now.

yea. what a pity. its basically a larger capacity micro with a color screen (and not a good one at that).

yea. it quite dissapointing. creative should stop pushing out so many players just so it can compete with the ipod. i'd rather they concentrate on a 'killer' player like iaudio and samsung.

I agree, they've dropped the ball by releasing so many damn players lately, all of them not really offering anything new (i.e. Zen Neeon, Zen Sleek, Muvo Vidz (What kind of name is that)). They should market 3 or 4 players, 1 or 2 flash (512mb and 1gb), one microdrive (5, 6 and 8gb) and one large capacity player (20, 40 and 60gb).

If the screen is as bad as you say, this is dissapointing really.

yea. that screen is really dim. i checked that the contrast was already at 100% and couldn't find any brightness control. i could actually see the square pixels on the screen. creative should just concentrate on a few products and make them better, instead of adding in a few subpar features or changing a casing design and then give it a new name.

Heh, I'm actually kind of glad it's not very good. I just bought a Zen Micro last night, and as soon as I saw this thread and the bit about 8GB and longer batter life, I thought, "Damn, now I'm gonna have to return this and wait a couple of months LONGER for a new player!" I'm glad I don't have to return and wait. If it didn't have the crappy screen I'd be all over it though. Oh well, such is life. I love my new Micro though, it beats the pants off my brother's iPod Mini and it's a hell of a lot cooler.

Edit: Also, I don't see what's so bad about MediaSource. It seems about the same as iTunes to me as far as transferring files and ripping CDs and such. It's really very easy to use, I don't know why everyone hates it so much.

not everyone hates it, but I prefer the Micro Media Explorer by far. Im actually not very impressed with any of the 3 programs I've used to transfer music to my micro (WMP 10, ZM Explorer, Mediasource)

On a side note; the wonder of why they did not make the Sleek a color screen doesn't make sense..Even though I may very well be buying a Sleek soon to replace my micro, for it to be mono just seems like unfair competition to the mass of color 20GB players in production and on the market. Then again, I could care less about the screen being color..
