Hopefully at least 200 of those engineers are being brought on to create PC software that doesn't suck

its good to see other companies trying to compete with apple. personally, it just irritates me to see so many people with iPod these days. i was one of the few people in my school who had the iPod last year, and now everyone has it. half of them dont even listen to quality music, they just stick the white earbuds in their ears and try to look cool. how freaking pathetic is that?

the only reason apple jacks the price up on their units is because of this current "iPod rage" thats sweeping the nation. last week i went to my local apple store and saw these two 8 years olds getting iPod mini's.

when i was 8 i was playing with GI Joes.

fr4c - Apple jacks up its prices? One year ago, I paid $299 for 10 GB, then it became 15 GB for the same price. Now, it's 20 GB for $299.

If you wish to be critical, fine. Just stick to the facts.

And why should it be irritating to see others enjoying music?

yeah, I wouldn't say they are jacking the prices up. the launch 3G 20GB was $400, the launch price of the 4G 20GB was $300

I think it's great other companies like creative are finally starting to advertise their products, iriver needs to do the same

No wonder so many people are flocking over to that underrated POS.. I despise faulty advertizing. Creative relies on boasting the trivial SNR spec. They say the Zen Micro has a 98 dB SNR, and in typical creative fashion the SNR is the first thing you'll read about when you see the quality of the player discussed. Tests by many sites show 88 dB SNR... in addition to making shoddy soundcards outside of the gaming field, they get to lie on their DAP specs too. And natrually, the company that does the most lying has the biggest advertizing budget. Go figure.

My apologies for the minirant, but I notice the mediocore products getting the best advertizing/showoff budget more and more. And not unlike this case, they use it to further perpetuate the product's claimed superiority to other products, which has no technical grounds to stand on. There continues the age of ignorance through advertizing.

well, as a DAP i believe there can be better products out there. but currently and in the foreseeable future (as predicted by me

) ipod will still be the fashion statement of daps. "its an ipod" would be a good enough reason to get one...

I wish Creative would make something with a line-out built into the player like the Jukebox 3.
