Creative Aurvana Live! Review and Mods

Stock pads sound good, but the XL get pretty flat compared to hm5, or the angled. They sound good to me open backed. Can play with hole in back of magnet for neutrality wishes.

So this is my mod. Also put a cloth tape on the baffle to make it a bit less reflective. Running stock pads without any thiccening rings and stuff.
Sounds pretty good to me, would be interested if someone else tried it. It's just basic 1-1.5mm felt.
Thanks

Wondering if someone can help me troubleshoot:

Bought a pair of Creative Aurvana Live! Headphones from Amazon on May 1. Have used them steadily for the past two months. Not even a week after the amazon return window closed, the bass performance began to rapidly degrade. Bass performance is now to the point that it is not only weaker than any other headphones I try in the same amp(Monolith Liquid Spark), if you try to turn up the bass with an EQ, the headphones begin to distort badly. If I switch to another pair of headphones with those same bass-boosted EQ settings, I just hear louder bass(louder but still clean, as it should be). So I assume that means this is a defective pair. Do I just need to mail these back to creative or what?

Hi i replaced my earpads after 10 years of use and the headphones sound better more cleaner to me . I have only a problem with exchange of the headband cushion i can't remove the headphones elements to get to the metal headband. I unscrewed the four screws on each sides but can't remove the headband from the rest. What i do wrong ?

I have a question about recabling. Though I know there'd be no benefit I'd like to try a balanced 2.5mm connection, something I've never done. I already have a 2.5mm to 2.5mm Y cable for my M1060c's.

From the photos I see red and white wires off each driver. Could I solder those to a 2.5mm plug on each cup? Would they correspond to positive and negative for each side? Or is the white strictly ground so that this mod wouldn't work?

Was looking for JVC S500 as my old pair got broken awhlie ago, but it's crazy how the prices got inflated. So found those for $60 delivered instead. Possibly that's for the best, will see. :)

My current EQ
Code:
Preamp: -2.2 dB
Filter: ON PK Fc 32 Hz Gain 2 dB Q 1.41
Filter: ON PK Fc 64 Hz Gain 1 dB Q 1.41
Filter: ON PK Fc 125 Hz Gain -3 dB Q 1.41
Filter: ON PK Fc 250 Hz Gain -1 dB Q 1.41
Filter: ON PK Fc 500 Hz Gain 1 dB Q 1.41
Filter: ON PK Fc 1000 Hz Gain -3 dB Q 1.41
Filter: ON PK Fc 8000 Hz Gain 1 dB Q 1.41

It removes some boxyness, gives a little more sparkle to the highs and extends the low end a little. Enhances the spatial effects.
