  is this good for gaming and what are the ohms? I would like to know cause I am in the market for one  and these seem pretty cool looking

Yes they are. Emphasis on quick and deep bass makes them fun phones for games and movies too.

Impedance: 32 Ohms so it's standard for portable cans - makes them easy to drive eighter from build in soundcard and phone.

  Are there any other headphones that compete/beat these for the price?

For sure they are, but it depends on what are your expectations and preferences. CAL!2 sound excellent to my ears but I can imagine that many listeners won't like them for some reason. Keep in mind they don't offer the best passive sound isolation, they come with short wire and they aren't large cans as well.
However in my ipinion they are hard to beat.

  when are they officially coming out? amazon shows that they out of stock

They are already available in Creative store, some of folks here already made order there and already have it shipped.
 I've read that officially CAL!2 should be available wordwide in December.

Free shipping as far as I can see.

But it's within the Europe, US store shows they are out of stock which is strange

I bought mine from amazon. I even posted it in the deals thread, but only the black one was available and there was only 3 or 4 available.

Yesterday I had a short meeting with one of the CAL! owners (modded cable + foam inside the cans). They sound pretty nice I must say, considering the price it's like a gift from Creative.

There are a major differences though:
-> comfort sits on CAL!2 site, cushions are bigger, softer, better
-> a bit more bass, higher quality, better controlled, faster, deeper

-> amount of details – similar with a nod in CAL!2 direction

-> mids similar

-> highs similar

-> soundstage – modded CAL! The sound more direct, much closer to the listener. CAL!2 have a significantly wider stage

-> build quality better in 2nd eddition

Owners of modded CAL! may not see the price difference justification here and probably will not jump to 2nd edition as long as the first one are on the market.

Well, the same driver, different can hence the differences.

  Would having bigger ears be a problem with the CAL! 2? I wouldnt want my ears rubbing on the drivers and/or not fitting in the cups properly.

As I staded in my review: http://twojepc.pl/artykuly.php?id=Test-Recenzja-Creative-Aurvana-Live!2&strona=6

"
Earpads’ dimensions: 90mm outside / 50mm inside, 23mm deep"

Should accomodate bigger ears.
