whoa! that's weird. I'd like to check that out since the seller is in Seattle, but I wonder if he is kind enough.

I noticed those the other day in my Grado eBay searches.

What I find totally confusing is that the headband appears to be from a low-end Sony, which I used to own before Head-Fi during my Freshman year of Undergrad. Confusing because it's an incredibly uncomfortable headphone. Really, really painful in ways that no SR series Grado has been for me.

Sucks. I would have bought these just to own a vintage Grado headphone, but already spent 300 on headphones this month, and am broke.

I don't believe those are vintage. He doesn't even know what model they are. They might just be overworked SR60s.

Won't bother me. I been living in pain since I got my 48s. I just suck it up and enjoy the music.

Right. Never thought of that.

Minijack termination on a stock Grado cable means they were SR-60s I would say. The SR-80 upwards have the 6mm jack, they're the wrong form factor for the iGrado and the wrong nomenclature for an Alessandro.

I think the SR80 actually has the smaller minijack as well.

If memory serves though, the only differences between the 60 and the 80 are how closely the drivers are matched and the bowls rather than comfies being shipped with them.

In my experience with Grados and their earpads, I can't imagine that the replacement pads on these are doing them any favors.

Oooh, do you mean the Sony V300? I'm looking at a pair of those that are hanging from a closet knob right now. My cubbymate uses them with her laptop.

I think so. My father still has my old pair, even though I bought him some iGrados two years ago for Christmas. I can't stand their headband.

Oh well. I guess they're durable, if nothing else.

my thoughts exactly

saw the minijack and remembered my SR-60's

I know the 125 and up are the bigger 6mm's like you mentioned

quick check of the Grado website shows the SR-80's are also minijack terminated

given the price, I'd say SR-60's and Sony V300 hybrids seems fair to assume (SR-60's are between $60 and $80 new, V300's are something like $20 or $30 new, so thats around $80 to $100 in parts cost, resale at $150 seems reasonable)

the thing is, afaik the only thing that really delinates the SR-60/80/125 from the SR-225 is closer matched drivers, better quality cabling, and the rear screens, so assuming these are SR-60's with better rear screens, I wonder what the SQ would be like, as in, would these actually be worth the price?

Yeah, I was thinking MS1's were a possibility, but they are clearly marked grado labs prestige series.

I'm just really curious how they sound with those pads! anyone going to take the plunge?
