Good luck healing and don't let this discourage you from biking.

Yeah I kept wanting to throw up every time I stuck my finger into the hole to play around with the flesh.
I'm probably going to take the next few days off, my thigh is killing me and my right hand is pretty sore.
I don't see you on bikeforums much anymore.

having come off my old bike a few times I have some advice..

first get some calcium tablets and take them regularly

Second, make sure you eat lots of protien (read meat)

and thirdly, give your body time to heal. Don't rush.

Do not take aspirin, it'll make things worse.

If you can stomach it, take some creatine also alongside all that.

I did the above and was back on the bike within 3 weeks of shattering my elbow + surgery..

I still browse BikeForums regularly, but I rarely post there anymore. All of my posting seems to be here now. I just bought a Specialized Langster so I will probably be hanging around the fixed gear forum a lot now.

Did the hospital at least give you any fun medicine?

Try sierratradingpost for arc'teryx.

I'm lucky enough to have one of the original jackets, the ones that took about a year to break in, the newer stuff feels like silk, I wouldn't trust that heh.

I got nothing from them. I guess I'm gonna be in pain for the next few days.

I'm using a Marmot PreCip/Patagonia Synchilla combo right now for my jackets, but I might get that REI ThermoLT to replace the Patagonia fleece, it's tempting.

I also use a Marmot PreCip but my others are a Mountain Hardware jacked with PolarGuard3D (the best one ever) and my TNF Fleece. I love REI

PitZips own my soul, I wonder if I will ever be able to change. And REI is awesome, I got my new pack, the Gregory Forester for only $180. (30% off I believe during the big sale). And I get to finally use it next week. Horray!

I went to RediMed right after taking those pictures and they began to get out the larger pieces that they could, then I ended up having to go to a plastic surgeon. For around a week I had to do debriding: Put a gauze/cloth thing on top of the wound and let the skin begin to grow back before having to rip it off (twice a day maybe?). After that I went back to the surgeon who picked out all the pieces he could, leaving only a few tiny ones. Now two years later I don't even have a scar.
