Thanks to the fine folks at the Audio Geek US Tour, I got to spend a couple of days with the Craft Ears Omnium. I'm not going to do a full-length review. I didn't take any pics but there are plenty of excellent pics on head-fi. Also worth noting - it's an audition IEM and it arrived without any packaging or accessories. Here we go...
- Look & fit. The pics elsewhere capture it nicely: they're really elegant, beautiful looking IEMs. They find a nice balance between luxurious yet reserved and not too tacky/gaudy. The fit - for my ears at least - is just fine and quite comfortable. They are a bit on the heavier side but nothing too cumbersome.
- Sound impressions. This is a detail monster by any measure. If you want to pick up every bit of nuance of what you're listening to, you're going to be happy with this. The overall sound signature is reference + forward highs with excellent detail. The bass is good but rumbly by any means. The mids are nice and satisfying with nice timbre across to the highs. The treble is the star of the show. For me, depending on the track, it can be a bit too harsh. After some tip rolling, I was able to find the sweet spot. Credit to Craft Ears for tuning planars in such a cohesive and organic way (side note: planars have gotten way better over the last year or so). Generally speaking, it's an incredibly detailed, sharp-leaning (read: not warm) sound. If that's your jam and you're fine with some sharp treble on occasion, you might love this IEM.
