Craft Ears Reviews/Impressions Thread

Thanks to the fine folks at the Audio Geek US Tour, I got to spend a couple of days with the Craft Ears Omnium. I'm not going to do a full-length review. I didn't take any pics but there are plenty of excellent pics on head-fi. Also worth noting - it's an audition IEM and it arrived without any packaging or accessories. Here we go...
  • Look & fit. The pics elsewhere capture it nicely: they're really elegant, beautiful looking IEMs. They find a nice balance between luxurious yet reserved and not too tacky/gaudy. The fit - for my ears at least - is just fine and quite comfortable. They are a bit on the heavier side but nothing too cumbersome.
  • Sound impressions. This is a detail monster by any measure. If you want to pick up every bit of nuance of what you're listening to, you're going to be happy with this. The overall sound signature is reference + forward highs with excellent detail. The bass is good but rumbly by any means. The mids are nice and satisfying with nice timbre across to the highs. The treble is the star of the show. For me, depending on the track, it can be a bit too harsh. After some tip rolling, I was able to find the sweet spot. Credit to Craft Ears for tuning planars in such a cohesive and organic way (side note: planars have gotten way better over the last year or so). Generally speaking, it's an incredibly detailed, sharp-leaning (read: not warm) sound. If that's your jam and you're fine with some sharp treble on occasion, you might love this IEM.
I think the last thought is on value. Right now it sells for €2,499, putting it in the TOTL pricing tier. I think in 2022, this IEM would be making much bigger waves than today. The good news for audiophiles is that the bang for buck just keeps getting better and better. Companies like Penon and Thieaudio are bringing products to market that are millimeters away from IEMs that 2-4x the cost. In short, there are $800-$1,000 IEMs that can outpace this IEM. If you're a micro-detail addict, IEMs by Softears, Aful, QDC and others are showing up for less money.

I currently enjoy my Omnium demo unit with a Forza Audioworks Claire Hybrid flat IEM cable. Ask Matt from Forza for the Claire as IEM version. I think it is exactly what you described. And with around 300+ € it is still affordable ... Or ask Craft Ears what their upcoming new Omnium upgrade cable will be and how it performs compared with the current standard cable ...

My own Omnium Universal with custom design is also still in production 😀

Nice...share with us foto of final product
Yes, I will do.

I saw that you posted in the Forza Audioworks thread. I would recommend that you use the Claire Hybrid IEM flat cable. The Copper IEM is really very warm. And the 8-wire version of the Hybrid should also provide the desired smooth highs. But as I said, you'll have to ask Matt directly for it. I described my impressions here some time ago.

Looking for cable for Omnium...need to keep sub/bass tight and clear plus give little warmth to hights. Any recommendations?
Which source are you using with the Omnium?

SP3000...it has big bump subbas region, the same like Omnium. So cable can't bump this region.
I need to warmup midbass, and highs.
I see. The SP3000 is probably a little less warm sounding than my SE300, but I stand by my recommendation with the Forza Claire Hybrid IEM. Maybe the Eletech Raphael could also be something for you. But I found the Raphael a little too dark with the Omnium on the SE300 with Cayin C9.

Aroma Jewel vs Craft Ears Omnium anyone? Which is better and why? :)

Stop asking the same question over and over and over again in a couple of different threads on various forums. If you haven't gotten an answer by now, how about you try to demo the Jewels to figure it out or read as many reviews as you can (and there's a couple of those around) to try and determine the potential answer to your question.

Prepping for tomorrow's concert.

Pop Legend Bryan Adams is coming to my city. So this evening, diving deep straight into the 70s with the absolute retro sound signature I could get.
In the Photo, Astell&Kern SP1000m >>> Custom Portable Tube Amp >>> Craft Ears Omnium + PWaudio Monile 1960's Shielding + TangZu Audio Tang Sancai Ear-Tips (Because I needed a Wide-Bore)
It was an absolutely monstrous performance. I can miss it when I get back to stock Omnium. Sublime Bass quantity with texture.
