Crackling with E-mu 1212M while watching DVD's

Are you using powerdvd? Try windvd.

WinDVD and PowerDVD are about equal in features. It just comes down to preference or what works for you.

For the absolute best DVD software look into TheaterTek or use Zoomplayer Pro with FFDShow to upsample the picture. It looks significantly better on a nice monitor/HDTV.

I am using WinDVD but am having problems with the synchronization of the sound track with the video. It starts out okay then seems to drift out of syncronization. I didn't have this problem with my other player called M-player, but the quality wasn't as good and I had problems with the crackling audio. How can I fix this?

follow-up: I think I fixed it by enabling the video decoding acceleration, but I do have another question, can I remove the grey bars from the top and bottom of the screen? When playing a dvd there are two shades of colors of bars, grey and black, is there a way to make it all black or one color?
