Ohhhhh....was just about to press the button on Plenue D, think I'll wait for pricing on this one

JetEffect 7 vs JetEffect 5 in PD.

Looks like 2.5mm TRRS balanced and 3.5mm TRS SE output.

UI looks the same as on my P2.

I'm guessing pricing is $400 - $500.

and what is new in this

Looks like a very capable budget oriented DAP. Not the highest end DAC, but JetEffect 7 dsp effects can compensate for that. Not quite the battery life of PD, but better than other models. Includes balanced output, and finally an introduction of Bluetooth (I have a feeling we might see BT in other Plenue models soon). Probably going to be priced between PD and PM2, just my guess.

128 gig internal AND microsd slot, nice. Just hope it has bookmarking of some description (doubt it), oh and gapless out the box would be nice.

Cowon has done gapless for longer than any other brand, so I wouldn't worry.

As for the 128Gb + 1 slot, it is just... the same as in 3 the previous DAPs. Cowon has always had this nasty habit of recycling parts ad nauseum...
Only a sub-600$ pricetag would make this competitive, otherwise these is just Plenue 1/M2 with a balanced output and more autonomy...

From a news release on Cowon's site:

' PLENUE R ' is scheduled for release in July, and the price is 599,000 won (128GB).

Using XE.com this is US$535

Watch that become £535! If I'm wrong I'll stick my hands up but I doubt it somehow...
