Thanks again for your help. But I'm pretty sure you misunderstood me because of my bad Englisch (sorry, German here). So I made two photos. One with the sleep setting with 1 minute auto off and disabled sleep timer and the other photo is what happens after the 1 minute of the auto off elapsed

One more time: The screen of the second photo appears AFTER the 1 minute of the auto off setting elapsed. To wake it I have to press the power button a long time, a shot press does not work. So this is not just switching off the screen and then waking it by a short press. Anyway, this behavior NOT CONSISTENT when I unplug the headphones while the PD plays a song and it paused the playback because of the unplugging. However, the behavior IS CONSISTENT as I expect it whenever I manually pause the playback whether headphones are plugged in or not. Then it goes to sleep mode. It appears to me that this inconsistent behavior of going to sleep or not going to sleep after the set time is dependent on the headphones I use and then unplug. Or it may dependent on how fast or straight I unplug them. I know this sounds ridiculous and I sincerely hope I did not misunderstand you but I can tell that at least my PD behaves strange when it comes to going to sleep.

(And as far as I understand it the sleep timer – or in my picture the "Ausschalt-Timer" – is for going to sleep at night and force the player to shut down no matter what after 10 to 120 minutes like setting a timer for a TV in case you fall asleep while watching it. Sorry again for my bad English. I hope you know what I mean.)

Have you reset it yet?

But my setting is exactly how I want it to be set. I want to suddenly and unexpectedly unplug my headphones, put it in my bag or pocket and be sure that it goes to sleep 1 minute after that. Unfortunately there were quite a lot occasions where I grabbed it after several hours with a paused track but still not being asleep (blinking led)

Try club EQ, max volume, and connect to an amp.
Sound will distort

My experience with Cowon players is that unplugging headphones from analog headphone output does not trigger player to go to a sleep mode. I know that works with coaxial digital out like on Ibasso DX50/DX90, but I am not sure how is  player able to sense headphones unplug from analog out. My PD should arrive tomorrow, I'll play with it and see if it works like previous Cowons, or they somehow altered analog circuitry for player to be able to register headphones unplugging. I'll let you know.

Unplugging the headphone normally triggers sleep mode because it makes the player inactive --> playback is paused so there is no activity. Being inactive triggers the auto off timer after which it elapsed the PD goes to sleep. And with my PD it seems the case that unplugging the headphone does not properly trigger inactivity. The auto off timer does not start to run down even though playback is paused and volume is reset to 40 after unplugging which I can see when waking the screen.

I'm really looking forward to your experience. Maybe you can test it with different headphone and different ways of unplugging (fast or slow...). If you want to test it I recommend you the following settings to speed up the tests:

Settings, Display, Auto display off: If there is no activity for a set amount of time, the screen automatically turns off. --> 10 seconds
Settings, Time, Timer, Auto off: Automatically turn off the device or enter sleep mode if there is no activity for a specied period of time. --> 1 minute

Thank you all for your help.

Hi everyone, I just ordered the Cowon D after making the decision toward the D rather than the DX80.... man  140 bucks more expensive for DX80.... so hope the D would satisfy me. Most of the time I save money to buy IEMs rather than DAP. I'm using X1 + E12A, so hope it would be a great improvement from X1 to the Cowon D.

My problem now is how to pair it with E12A.... the Cowon case is crazy expansive.... thinking about using 3M dual lock to stick both devices together, does anyone have another ideal? Thank you.

Thanks man.... got mine Cowon D today..... great improvement from my X1!!!! I love the preset EQ... honestly no need to add an amp... but cause I have E12A wont hurt  to add it :))
listen to rap with Fidue A83 or even ue900s (not quite heavy bass IEMs)with bass boost on the D and very satisfied. Very worth the money..... I think I made a right decision with Cowon D over DX80..... The D has good SQ and excellent battery life (maybe 100hrs as people say :)) ) while DX80 just around 13hrs

Hi guys!

I don't often post here, but for a while now I am an owner of Plenue D. I am impressed by the general sound and instrument separation. Protective glass for Canon 600D indeed fits ideally :)

However, I have a question, perhaps some of you have similar experience.

Basically, I am listening to the D (pun intended) using Audio Technica's ATH M50x. What makes me wonder is that high frequencies are a bit too exposed.

My ultimate goal was to listen to music without having to fiddle with EQ. I am even wondering if this isn't just me, perhaps I am too sensitive to high tones...

Did anyone of you had similar experience?
