Cowon J3 Impressions Thread

I just noticed that my screen flickers a little bit.  The timing is somewhat random but it's about every 5-10 seconds and happens on all menus/applications screens.  It's a subtle flicker and only dims the screen by about 20%, but it's annoying.

I haven't had my J3 that long so I don't know if this has been a problem out of the box.  I search the interwebs and only found two posts of people who noticed the same thing.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Update: I finally received my replacement J3 from Amazon.com and no flickering.

Update (again): Flickering gone, wonky USB here... uuugggh.  Now I'm having a problem with my USB cable cutting out for both syncing and connecting to the PC.  I sent a repair ticket request to Cowon USA to get a replacement cable (hoping it's not a problem with the actual device itself).

For the record I have tried to debug this problem by using the cable with two different PCs - the problem still exists.  I also made sure that I had the 20-pin cable firmly pressed into the USB slot on the J3.  Lastly, jiggling the cable recreates the problem or fixes a faulty connection, and it doesn't seem to be the connection at the PC but the connection at the device.

My sister asked me to find a cheap, small mp3 player. I advised her to buy the clip + based on the positive comments that pop up every now and then. It came in today. I've listened to it a little, and I've never been happier with my J3. :) I'm really glad I dug out the money needed to get myself a J3. Whilst the clip+ is amazing value, it would never have given me the long term satisfaction the J3 gives me.

Anyone tried making an audio line-out adapter from the TV-out cable?

The line out can only be activated in video mode. Line out for audio playback would need to be implemented in the firmware.

The J3's headphone out is basically perfect when driving an external amp (i.e. no load, or near-infinite load), no need for an extra line out.

I found an awesome Music UCI called "MusicTab" I use it with the Klaus Browser, and I think my J3 is set for a while.

I will post pictures of my J3 setup and links to the themes I just listed soon! :)

DFKT, I assume that the J3 should be at max volume when using with an external amp?  and another question..did you have tests to see if the frequency response is 100% flat when outputing to an amp instead of headphones?  is it exactly like a line out (line level)?
