Hey guys, does anyone know which cowon dap has the best SQ out of the bunch or maybe they are all usingthe same hardware??

This will be used 90% of the time on a 7 speaker car system of pretty good quality. So keep in mind large or small doesnt matter to me. I will be connecting the player via a Zu Audio 1/8 to GP RCA cable directly to the back of the deck.

I have 2CH and 5CH audiophile home audio systems and i do realize this isnt going to compare, but short of bringing all my SACDs and XRCDs into the car, i really dont see another option. Considered a DVD Changer but doesnt sound like it supports the proper file formats. Ive heard good things about cowon and 1 thing that always stands out with them is SQ which as you can see is my main priority. Other suggestions will be considered but mainly im looking for the best fit from cowon.

My priorities are as such.

#1 SQ
#2 SQ
#3 SQ
#4 Space for music
#5 Flac/Lossless/HIGH QUALITY format support
#6 Erganomics/Looks

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!! :P Im dying here, i have cds all over my brand new car and its gonna be a mess since i dont want them in a cd book since the cds im using are very expensive and i cant afford to scratch them all and rebuy them [sacds/xrcds]

I think besides the iMod, the X5 is on complete top in HP and LO sound quality. For a car system though, why not just get a nice, high-quality head unit with a CD player, or if possible, compatible with a hard drive and some kind of lossless format?

Or even go for a head unit with DVD-A or SACD. DVD-A has 5.1 channels on some (all?) albums.

I have yet to rockbox mine, but from what I've heard, it just makes it better.

The X5 has a Line-Out through a king of dungle. This line out is flat. If you leave all the EQ setting at off the sound is fantastic and can be amplified throuh your car system. I suppose it has it's own EQ.
(If you use any EQ setting on the Line-Out, it is crap)

I use mine through the Line-out Plugged in a PA2V2 going in the AUX of my car radio. I have a pretty cheap car radio but in that way and IMO the sound is very good.

The X5 plays Flac and Ogg.

Also the D2 plays Flac and Ogg and you add SD card , up to 8 gb.

regards,

My iAudio D2 sounds great when input thru my Honda car sound system. My X5L also had great sound. The D2 outputs about 35mw/channel, considerably above that of most DAPs.

As for the head unit. it is a 2008 lancer and there are no head plates for it as of yet so an aftermarket deck is out of the question right now. i already have a touchscreen high end clarionsitting from my last car doing nothing. as for the d2 or x5L, x5L is proally my best bet, i just wish the d2 had more storage, id be all over it.

All the Cowon players I have have excellent SQ, with the X5L being the best of the 3 I have. There are those that don't like the D2. To my ears its is great and very easy to use.

Thats my $0.02.

cheers

Yeah, Cowon plans to make its next flagship player about the size of the broad side of a barn. Don't think so.

Somewhere on Iaudiophile it mention it being a 7 inches screen possibly touch screen like the D2.

That 7inch screen info was a one of our members repeating gizmodos incorrect information. If the X7 does indeed turn up it will not have a 7inch screen.
