I don't see that it improved the SQ...

Just upgraded mine...will compare...

EDIT:

Not much difference from v2.21. I don't think the hiss is ever going away due to the nature of its hardware. Either use high impedance cans or use a low gain amp to reduce the hiss.

do d2 hiss worst than u3 or u2?

Did anyone notice that the D2 stopped recognizing tags for FLAC files after the update? Or maybe it never did & I just didn't notice...

What hiss? I've listened to my D2 through ER-4p, MS-1, EH-350 and PX-100 headphones played direct and through my Zeroaudiocraft amp, music and black, low and high volume and I have yet to hear any hiss and very little sibalance. 2.21 and 2.45B.
It's a week and a half old.....maybe newer production is different?

The hiss is most recognizable when you first turn on the D2 with your earphones on, even with volume set to 0.

i think that the um2 is just very sensitive - the only source i have that does not hiss is my md player. er4p i would have thought would have hissed too but that is good that it does not. i cannot listen to my d2 with my um2 - too frustrating.

of course, i could lessen the hiss with my xin supermicro but that thing even hisses slightly with my um2. Alas, what iem will satisfy my need for letting my source be black?

other than that d2 is okay, but i get nowhere near 52 hours... i tested and topped out about 30 hours.

Yeah. No hiss on ER-4P. And I think that 52 hours is using only internal memory.

Besides the hiss, I think the D2 sounds fantastic straight out of the headphone jack, on par with my Sony RH1. I can live with the hiss due to D2's convenience factor. Plus, the hiss isn't as apparent with music that I play on the go.

I get around 35 hours with setting the LCD brightness to very low (~3) & 30 if I leave it @ default.

i agree with the sound - though i listend to my dt880 with it... it is amazing for big headphones. i will do another listen with stock buds and no sd card plugged in to see if i can get over 35 hours. cnet said 55, but... im somewhat perturebed!
