Hello head-fiers, I need your help. I successfully put a 512GB SDXC card in my Cowon A3 using a SD-CF and a CF-ZIF adapter. The player recognizes all storage and sees all my music (currently 200GB on it). But selecting a song for playback results in a immediate shutdown accompanied by a click sound as if power was cut. Reducing the files to about 20.000 (~100GB) makes the player work fine.
Any suggestions?
Kind regards.

'Seeing' the music and 'playing' the music are two different things.

'Seeing' only involves reading the directory which is at the start of the card.

'Playing' involves addressing the actual location where the file is stored. My suspicion would be that, just like for example the Cowon Plenue D and D2, this player cannot address anything beyond the first 128GB of the card. On the Plenue D, you get an error message 'File Not Found'. Obviously the A3 is not quite as advanced.

I don't know if any of this is actually true for the A3 but it seems likely.

Hello technobear,
thank you for your reply. Do you mean, when you put a card bigger than 128GB into the Plenue D the player sees the whole storage (e.g. 400GB), but can only play files up to 128GB?

My D2 with a 512GB card also doesn't show all files in OF (only a guess it is above 128GB, because the OF doesn't show total and used space on the SD card), but Rockbox can see and play everything fine, so it is just a limitation of the Cowon firmware.
When putting a 240GB HDD into the Cowon Q5W, the player only shows 128GB, so there clearly is a hardware limitation for this player.

The A3 shows all of the disk space and all files, but can't play them. So I can't tell if it is the fault of the software or the hardware. I also dont understand the power cut off.

I am still confused

Kind reagrds
m
