Cover song better than original? Examples please.

    As far as two of my all time favorites  go. I'm pretty sure the Sonata Arctica cover of "Still Loving You" is better than the original Scorpions version and that's coming from a long time Scorpions fan. However, I'm not so sure about the John Mellencamp cover of "Wild Night" actually being better than the original Van Morrison version but it's still really good IMO.

    Personally, I prefer the Flying Burrito Brothers' version of Wild Horses over the Rolling Stones. Gram Parsons has a great emotional delivery, and the song is simpler and has more of a country twang to it, which I think suits it well. It's somewhat debatable whether it qualifies as a cover, though, since the Flying Burrito Brothers released it a year before the Stones did...

    I am going to post this up, as being a long time fan of both Gabriel and Bowie it intigued me no end when I ran across it. As with all of Gabriels efforts of the era the arrangement is haunting. Is it better than Bowies original?  Purely in the eye of the beholder.
