Hey all,

I haven't had all that many interconnects in my time... and since I've gotten my Cosmic, I've decided that I probably need better cables.

Anyhow, I'm pretty hesitant to buy cables off the internet, new or used, since I'm worried they won't fit in my Cosmic. HeadRoom sells DiMarzio's with special connectors to fit in the Cosmic. This concerns me.. :p If they sell custom IC's.. there must be a reason for it. Anyone have sort of a "rule of thumb" to follow when buying ICs for the Cosmic? [and making sure they fit...]

I've been looking at some of the Cardas Neutral References... and that's it for now.

Thanks!

The reason is simple (and what you understood) that most of high quality interconnects have too big RCA plugs that don't fit those two holes at the back of Cosmic

. I used to own Supreme with custom DiMarzio's and was happy. I prefer bigger connectors which fit more snugly though, but couldn't find one that fit.

Hope this help

Sorry vwap, have never owned one. Maybe someone who currently owns those cables [namely the Neutral References from Cardas] should do vwap a favor by measuring the largest diameter on the connectors and then you could compare with those holes on Cosmic. Actually I beleive there're so many owners of Cosmic or Supreme out there. Help him out. What are you guys using?

PS: I was in the same situation as yours and that's why I ordered DiMarzio (not bad... not bad at all).

Sorry if this doesn't help

hehe.. I was debating between three places to post this last night.. Amps, Cables, or Headroom...

Anyway, I'll go ahead and post there and see what one of HeadRoom's people say..

Thanks!

Any interconnects with WTB connectors will work, although you will have to remove the outer casing (leaving the wiring exposed, although inside the amp's casing). I do this all the time when using my Kimber Select interconnects with my Cosmic.

I should also add that the reason I use the Kimbers rather than the DiMarzio's is that I find the DiMarzio's grainy on the top end when paired with my high-end equipment (although they sound pretty good with my portable rig and Traveller Bag).

Hi, just out of curiousity, shouldn't the outer casing be designed to protect from RF or whatever interference?

I would think so. If you're in a particularly electrially noisy area you might expect to hear some added noise, but my Kimbers are so quiet anyway (the jacketing material) that I don't seem to pick up any stray noise when using them.
