Hi All,

As said on another thread I just opened, I'm on the verge of purchasing the Corda Move but, before "making the big jump" (it will be my 1st amp), I would appreciate your feedback/experience about the use of this amp with a Beyer DT990 pro or 2005 version (250 ohms). This is the HP I own and I'm pretty sure the combination is perfect... But some feedback about your experience would help and be more than appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Oh, how I wish I could offer you some feedback. The right driver on my 990s gave up the ghost and I'm waiting for the replacement from Beyerdynamic. In the meantime I've rewired mine and am also waiting on my 5.5 iMod from Vinnie.

How's that for a totally useless post to your question?

Or to save you wading through a 48-page thread: the DT990s are generally agreed to sound great with Meier Audio amps. I can only vouch for that with the two amps that I have, but the Move does have the same sonic signature as Meier's other amplifiers. Go ahead and jump!

I like my MOVE and think it is excellent synergy with DT 770 PRO/80. The bass response and dynamic control of the MOVE makes the DT 770 really shine. I'm not that pleased with the combination MOVE and DT 990 PRO/250. It makes the somewhat piercing up-mid/highs of the DT 990 PRO/250 even harder, more tiering. This doesn't mean the MOVE is bad, but the combination isn't cutting the cake for me. It's not a problem as I bought the MOVE to be used as a portable with the DT 770 PRO/80.

Tantra, having just purchased a Corda Move (should be delivered in a few days) for my DT 770 Pro/80, i was wondering how much difference it makes over un-amped use. I'm beginning to regret the purchase, because i'm thinking it may not make as much difference as i had originally hoped for.

I have a Porta Corda MKIII-USB and a DT990 (250 ohms, 2005 edition) and I can say that they complement themselves very well!! And to have tested my amp with a DT770 Pro 80 ohms and a DT880 250 ohms, they both do a pretty good job with the amp too.

The DT990 are one of the headphones Jan uses to test and validate his new amps.

The difference is huge. Unamped the DT 770 PRO/80 is kind of flat and lifeless, the bass is a bit unfocused (some even find the bass boomy) without proper weight. A good amp like the MOVE will grab the driver with authority and give you substantially better dynamics and bass response. The MOVE also has a very clean and detailed reproduction which the midrange/treble of the DT 770 also benefits from.

If you like tons of clean, deep and dynamic bass, presented with great control, I don't think you will regret the purchase of the MOVE for your DT 770 PRO/80

Ah, thank you. I can't wait until it arrives now. It does seem a little flat at the moment, so hopefully this amplifier will let these cans work at their full potential.
