I was reading on Meiers site and it said that the Corda HA-2 is the same as the Prehead without the preamp capaability. Is this true? Has anyone heard this amp? Im thinking of upgrading from my Perreaux.

Perhaps this is what you are looking for

In short, they sound very similar but Prehead has more power (3 pairs of buffers) hence slightly better sounding (punchier bass). I think even Jan said he has a hard time telling them apart from the sound.

I have listened extensively to both of them and you need to listen with an extremely critical ear to hear any differences. They are both excellent amps. The sound is influenced by the op amp that Jan selected for these amps as much as anything. Remember that the op amp in these models cannot be easily changed. I had an HA-2 for several months for review and I would have no problem recommending it as a main amp.
