False. Music purchased via iTMS can be easily uploaded using "transfer purchased tracks" feature. Other tracks can be easily copied via explorer. Simply plug in the iPod, windows will recognize it as mass storage device, enable view of hidden files and folders in explorer, and copy away. Not straight forward though, since they are in hidden folders and the filenames are a bunch of random numbers. However, the tracks are intact (in terms of tags) and they are not encrypted in any way. There are also plenty of 3rd party software that will copy songs off iPods.

Since the Zune is not even recognized as USB mass storage device, I dunno.

^ Why are you telling him this when he has a Zune?

And yes, the zune software has a reverse sync feature. When you plug in your zune and open the software, go to the left panel and click the music icon and then go to artist/albums/etc that is listed under your Zune name, then select whatever you want and drag it into the sync panel, which is the one on the right, and click copy to computer.

I'm telling the OP that because he/she thought that you cannot upoload tracks from iPod, which is not true.

Thanks for indicating the possibility with the Zune. Will it upload personally ripped MP3 as well?

I don't think you can. What you can do is rename a song to ".jpg", transfer it, then copy it off of the zune, and rename it back...its a hassle, but it works!
