It's the LX33 at the bottom. Are these good specs?

It looks alright. The specs are okay, but THD is a bit high - though if you like tube distortion and 2nd harmonics, it can sound nice to you. Some of those tubes are quite common, so they can be easily replaced, but some others don't look that familiar to me - but, I'm no tube expert by any means. Ans, of course, there's eBay to fish around good ole NOS tubes

The question is rather the synergy with the headphones you are using. If it sounds good with your headpphones or speakers, then it's good

Wow. Really Amazing...

I subscribed to "Luxman" Yahoo groups, and this morning I posted a question about the LX-33. Exactly 6 minutes later, in Italy, another fellow posted this one:

"Hello everybody at Luxman group,

I am an old-time collector and enthusiast and I really like the tube Luxmans I listen to now, you can see them in my site www.stefanopasini.it

I write asking if someone remembers the first tube Luxman I owned in the Eighties, at the beginning of the 'tube revival'. It was named, I think, 'LX-33'.... am I wrong? I cannot find any data. Thank you for your help!

Have a nice Easter,

Stefano"

Neat coincidence, huh? I guess it must be the Luxman magic.

Look at this link:

http://216.239.37.104/translate_c?hl...26as_qdr%3Dall

It mentions the THD as actually being 0.7%. I have read this in another place as well...

the amp is being sold here for about $1,100 U.S dollars (118,000 Yen) -- close to the same as its price was when the model was released new in 1979 (138,000 Yen I think.)

As for sound, with the NOS tubes I put in there it's the best amp I've listened to for any extended period of time. It's very musical.

I'm beginning to feel like I know this amp personally!

Keep up the sleuthing.

The Luxkit A1033 was the DIY equivalent of the LX-33 and it says on the back of this model I can wire it for ultralinear at 30w or triode mode at 15w... It's in ultralinear right now, if I have it changed to triode, what would this do to the sound?

All I can say is it sound GREAT... I am using Wharfedale Emerald EM 95 speakers right now with the amp and it sounds nothing short of INCREDIBLE as far as my audio experiences are concerned...
