Sorry if this may be off-topic, but I thought folks here would be interested. I've been eyeing the Klipsch ifi for a long time, but it was hard to justify to my wife given their $400 pricetag. Now Klipsch is offering refurbished ones for half price. I just snapped one up.

This is the very best 2.1 system you're likely to find anywhere near that price. I've auditioned them at an Apple store and they clearly blew away the Bose SoundDock and the iM7's and are said to much more accurate and musical than any existing 2.1 system designed for PCs. Note that the Klipsch ifi isn't portable. The subwoofer weighs a good 40 pounds alone.

I'm not affiliated with Klipsch in any way.

P.S. I posted in the Portable Audio forum because these are designed for use with iPods. However, they have a line-in that any DAP or other audio source can use.

Yep, but if you don't have an iPod, you'll need a line out cable (stereo mini-plug to stereo mini-plug) to connect your headphone jack to the line-in on the Klipsch dock. Unfortunately, Klipsch doesn't include the cable, but you can pick one up for a buck or two at your local Radio Shack.

Added: non-iPods would need something like this...

So after a bit of reading, this thing looks to be more a compact stereo system, but better then a high end 2.1 computer system. A good thing.

Basically what we have here is an amp, sub, and satellites. I can't forget an iPod dock and compactness.

Seems to be a good system I might pick up. Then soon buy an iPod 5G to attach to it.

Might wanna check this out too...

Anyone have good reviews for the Klipsch iFi?

Here are a few:

Is this system worth it if you don't use an iPod for it.

The quality of sound you would get depends on the quality of the signal you're getting from the headphone jack on your player. But, in general, it would not likely be as clean as the iPod line-level output.

As for whether it's worth if you don't have an iPod, I've read good reports by non-iPod users, but you might want to check to see if your local Apple store has a iFi set up as a demo and bring your MP3 player (plus cable) to the store and audition it for yourself.

P.S. I think some Best Buys have demo units too.
